Charlotte, N.C. (December 28, 2012) Doing anything for 15 consecutive years is admirable. But when it results in more than $1.25 million to benefit public schools, it’s a feat worthy of celebration.

On October 2 and 4, Allen Tate Realtors from across the Carolinas gathered for the company’s annual FUNDay fundraiser. Since 1999, agents have come together each fall and “paid to play” and participate in events ranging from tennis, cornhole and raffles, to a cake walk, tailgate competition and silent auction. All proceeds from FUNDay benefit public education in local Allen Tate communities.

For the second consecutive year, Allen Tate doubled the fun and held two regional events – one at the Springs Dairy Barn in Fort Mill, S.C. and one at Pine Lake Pavillion in Mebane, N.C. – resulting in more than $80,000 in proceeds, with 400 Allen Tate Realtors participating.

“There is nothing more important to the quality of life of a community than the school house at the end of the street,” said Pat Riley, president and chief operating officer, Allen Tate Company. “For 15 years, our Realtors have come together in the spirit of giving back to protect and preserve public education, so every child has an opportunity to be prepared and learn, and every teacher has the skills and equipment they need to help those children succeed.”

“Each year, I am more humbled by what FUNDay stands for, and how we have been able to make a difference in our schools, simply because a group of great people each give a little bit,” said Riley.
