CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 8, 2013) It may only take up a corner of the living room, but Steven Currie is tremendously proud of the custom-made cabinet that holds his prized Carolina Panthers collectibles.

And now Currie has yet another reason to like this one-of-a-kind case: it just won him $1,000.

The Asheville, N.C. man was recently selected as the grand prize winner of the At Home with the Carolinas Panthers Contest, sponsored by Allen Tate Company, the Carolinas’ #1 real estate company and Official Partner of the Carolina Panthers.

Currie uploaded a photo, showing his Panthers Pride at home (his prized cabinet) to the Carolina Panthers Facebook page. The photo was randomly selected as the grand prize winner, winning him a $1,000 gift card from Lowe’s Home Improvement. Four weekly winners were also awarded $250 Lowe’s gift cards.

“I had boxes and boxes of Panthers stuff in the basement. My wife, Barbara, thought it would be nice if I had a place to display everything and enjoy it, so she had this cabinet designed and made for me for Christmas two years ago,” said Currie.

“This contest was a great opportunity for Allen Tate to once again team up with the Carolina Panthers and celebrate our long-term partnership,” said Pat Riley, president, Allen Tate Company.

Currie, a former Kansas City Chiefs fan (in the days of Joe Montana), began following the Carolinas Panthers from their inaugural season and has never looked back. He’s particularly fond of former Panther Kevin Greene, but this season, has enjoyed watching linebacker Luke Kuechly become an integral part of the team roster.

Now that the season is over, Currie may get back to his other Panthers project: painting the basement blue and black to please his stepson, Markus. And while he’s still deciding on plans for his winnings, a new dishwasher is on the list.

The At Home with the Carolina Panthers Contest is the latest in a series of promotions with the Carolina Panthers since 2007. Other partnership events have included the “Crossing the 50” program,” the Ultimate Fan Package Sweepstakes and Panthers Purrsuit social media challenge.
